Lydia the Loom

Last year I was given a very old loom, Lydia (yes it actually has a name!), by one of the local manufacturers. It had been dismanteled many years ago and lay unused and unloved in their loft. Despite the fact that there are an awful lot of pieces and no instructions I’m confident that it can be restored to it’s former glory.

This is what remains of the last warp that was woven on the loom, tartans were obviously in vogue at the time! It’s always exciting to see a warp on the beam especially section warps like this one they’re such a riot of colour.
